Who they are
Blonsky is a professional soldier who watches a Hulk shrug off a cannon round and asks to be given some of that. What he takes is the Ross serum stacked on top of Sterns' gamma work, and the film is very clear that the escalation is his choice each time. Fifteen years later a very different show finds him doing a great deal of therapy about it.
