Who they are
The 2003 film is a Frank Miller comic filmed as a nu-metal video, and Affleck plays Murdock as genuinely damaged rather than heroic — a man sleeping in a sensory deprivation tank because the city is too loud. The director's cut is substantially better than the version released, and everyone involved has said so.

Born Again
Kingpin learns Daredevil's name and takes everything — the licence, the flat, the friends — without ever putting on a costume. It is the best Daredevil story published and the template for every screen version since, including the one that took the title.
