Who they are

Rio is the Witches' Road's most dangerous walker and the show's reveal: not a witch at all but Death itself, and Agatha's ex. Their relationship is the series' spine — a woman who loved Death, cheated her out of every witch she ever drained, and is finally asked to pay.

From the comics

Thanos courted her for decades

Marvel's Death is a cloaked woman who never speaks, and the reason Thanos does anything: the Infinity Gauntlet is a love letter. The show borrows the entity, gives her a name and a face, and hands her a very different relationship.

Captain Marvel #26 (1973), Jim Starlin; The Infinity Gauntlet #1–6 (1991)
