Who they are
Surtur is a prophecy with a voice: put his crown in the Eternal Flame and he becomes a thousand feet tall and Asgard burns. Odin keeps the crown in a vault rather than destroy it, which is the single decision that makes Ragnarok possible — and the film's best turn is that being told the future in full does not stop anyone walking into it.
