What it is
Not a team so much as a friendship group with a shared discovery: a staff, a pair of gauntlets, an alien, a strong twelve-year-old, a strategist and a dinosaur. They have no base, no funding and no adult they can call, which is the premise rather than an obstacle. Everything they can do came from the people they are running from.

The original run
Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's series opens on the same premise and keeps almost none of the same details: the parents serve a set of ancient gods called the Gibborim, the sacrifice is annual and literal, and the group loses a member in the first arc. The television version keeps the tone and softens the arithmetic.
