What it is
Built in a cave, from a box of scraps, by a man with shrapnel migrating towards his heart. It powers the suit, the tower and — after Howard Stark's model of a fairground turns out to be a diagram — a new element that stops it poisoning him. Tony has it removed in 2013 and keeps it anyway.
