Who they are

Pierce is played by a film star from the era of paranoid political thrillers, which is the joke and also the thesis: the most dangerous person in the building is the one with the corner office and the reasonable voice. His whole argument is that order is worth some arithmetic, and the film lets him make it properly before it disagreees.
