Who they are
Zabo is a small-town physician who lost everything in one afternoon in Hunan and has been dosing himself into something else ever since. The show plays him as a grieving father first and a monster second, and gets a great deal out of the order. Kyle MacLachlan is billed simply as "The Doctor" for the whole of his run.
