Who they are
The Raimi version of Venom is a careerist rather than a monster — a man whose grievance is professional and whose worst act is a doctored photograph, until something arrives from a meteorite and offers to make him bigger. Grace plays the smugness well; the film has no room left to give the symbiote a story of its own, and Raimi has said as much.
