Who they are

Galactus offers Earth a deal: the child for the planet. First Steps is about four people refusing it, and about what it does to a family to have the whole world tell you that you should have said yes. The film gives the baby one moment of his own at the end — enough to say what Galactus saw in him — and the post-credits scene gives him a visitor with a mask and a very old interest.

From the comics

The most powerful child in the Marvel Universe

Franklin is an omega-level reality-warper from infancy: he creates pocket universes, makes his own imaginary friends real, and in Hickman's run is quietly the reason the Fantastic Four's future exists at all. Writers spend forty years deciding how much of that to let him remember.

Battleworld ran on him

In Secret Wars, Doom saves what is left of the multiverse by taking Franklin's power and using it as the raw material for a patchwork planet, then raises the boy as his own son. It is the comics' clearest statement of what Franklin is for: a universe-maker whoever is holding him.

Secret Wars #1–9 (2015), Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić

Where this might be going

Guesses, not canon — reasoning from the comics and from what the films have already set up. None of it has happened on screen.

Doom knows exactly whose child that is

Well signposted

A post-credits scene, a masked man, and a baby who just repelled a Celestial-scale devourer: the setup is the Secret Wars premise with the serial numbers on. If Doomsday ends where the comics did, Franklin is the engine and Doom is the driver.
