Who they are

Won a war across every version of himself, then spent the rest of eternity making sure no other version could ever start one — pruning realities from a chair at the end of time. He Who Remains is the franchise's best-argued villain: he explains exactly what happens if he stops, invites them to kill him anyway, and is entirely bored by the outcome either way.

From the comics

The Kang Dynasty

Kang conquers Earth outright, holds it, and is beaten less by force than by the fact that ruling it bores him. The comics Kang is a time-travelling warlord with a dynasty of variants — Rama-Tut, Immortus, Iron Lad — long before the TVA existed.

The Avengers vol. 3 #41–55 (2001–2002), Kurt Busiek

Where this might be going

Guesses, not canon — reasoning from the comics and from what the films have already set up. None of it has happened on screen.

His saga was handed to someone else

Well signposted

Everything from Quantumania onwards was built to make Kang the Thanos of this saga. Recasting the antagonist as Doom leaves that scaffolding — the TVA, the variants, the pruned branches — pointing at a villain who is no longer arriving. Expect the multiversal-war groundwork to be re-attributed rather than dropped.
