Who they are
The very first Fantastic Four comic is about him, which makes his First Steps appearance a nod as much as a role: a squat, aggrieved man with an underground kingdom and a lot of opinions about the surface. The film uses him as comic relief with a point — the world is full of people the Four have already beaten, and they still have to live next to them.
