Who they are
Stane is the MCU's first villain and its most quietly damning: a man who built nothing, sold to everyone, and resented an heir who could do in a cave what his engineers could not do in a lab. His argument is that Stark Industries was always his; the film's answer is that this is exactly why it should not have been.

The comics Stane is a longer and colder story: a corporate raider who studies Tony Stark for years, engineers the drinking rather than the assassination, and takes Stark International through a hostile buyout. Only after he owns it does he build the Iron Monger.
