Who they are

A neurosurgeon of genuinely exceptional skill and genuinely exceptional arrogance, who lost the use of his hands and spent every dollar he had chasing a cure. Kamar-Taj offers him something worse and better: not his hands back, but a job. The through-line is that Strange keeps choosing to be the one who does the unbearable arithmetic — fourteen million futures, one stone, one spell — and keeps being slightly wrong about the cost.
