Who they are
Xavier's project is integration: a boarding school in Westchester that produces mutants the world can be persuaded to accept. The films are consistently more interested in his failures than his sermons — the serum habit in Days of Future Past, the mind-wipes he performs on people who did not consent, and Logan's revelation that the worst mutant massacre in history was an old man having a seizure.
