The place itself
For most of the timeline Earth is a backwater with no idea what it is sitting next to. The Tesseract is in a church in Norway, the Mind Stone is in a HYDRA basement, the Time Stone is around the Ancient One's neck in Kathmandu. Every cosmic threat that arrives is arriving for something already here.
